My father-in-law is a semi-retired Radiologist. Doctors get these free magazines from insurance companies that feed them bullshit about how national health care will ruin their practice, make them work harder for less money, etc.

I'm surprised they don't tell them they'll all die a horrible death if national health care ever goes through.

How to save billions in health care costs? Abolish the insurance companies.

i work at a non-profit clinic and we were just talking about this today.

what seems to be the trend nowadays are people who have never been on any kind of 'public assistance' are finding themselves without a job, unable to afford expensive COBRA benefits, and completely without access to medical care until they end up at our clinic where we charge them on a sliding scale.

suddenly some of the same people who always griped about people on Medicaid and bought into the fear-mongering of ZOMG SOCIALIZED MEDICINE IS SOCIALIST are getting a taste of what it's like to be without coverage and realizing that hey, maybe we should change this.

so maybe once enough of the selfish majority have to rely on the e.r. for basic medical care or go to low-income clinics, things can start to improve.. but i doubt it will happen before then.
