I got reconfirmation that McCain is a lying, condescending piece of...
Eh.
I was worried at first. For some reason Obama seemed more nervous than usual to me, at the start. But he picked up well. I don't think either landed any real decisive blow but, because Obama WAS able to hold his own in an area that is supposed to be McCain's area of expertise... I think Obama will proceed to completely embarrass McCain in the following debates. Obama has a plan that will make life a lot easier for the middle class, and McCain will have nothing to do about it but slander and pander. Which has helped him so far but as the election draws nearer, people are increasingly critical and watching to see that politicians care. I think it'll remain a close race but I'm not insanely worried or anything.
I thought it it well for Obama. He stayed professional and Presidential. He used no sneaky tricks like McCain. Like the constant, " you don't understand" bullshit. I also liked how when McCain lied about Obama, Obama was quick to say, "No that's not true". Or he would back up to something McCain had said and clarify it no matter how long McCain had the floor. And all this shit that was said about Georgia by McCain that Obama didn't do this or that and at that moment, Joe Biden was IN Georgia WITHOUT any press, talking to the leader!
There may have not been a knockout but it was the first round. They were feeling each other out like in boxing. I think you can expect more from Obama now that he knows McCain's tactics. He just needs to make McCain blow up on TV. Make him lose his temper.

I was surprised as how stiff and unprepared Obama seemed to be. He's usually so much better at oration.
To me the debate was a big nothing.
