The Old Tiger's World

I'm listed as vacationing back home. The Chief said he'd keep an eye on the activity in my apartment, it would give him the chance to collect some more information on the people who keep trying to wire it ( Read more... )

Whatever you do, don't put metal or plastic in the microwave! Metals will spark and plastics not explicitly labeled as safe for the microwave will melt. If you cook potatoes, be sure to prick them with a fork several times so that the steam can escape. Otherwise, they'll explode. Same with most skin-having produce, and definitely all sausages. Um. If you heat water for tea, be cautious when taking it out, because you can end up with super heated water that just hasn't had a nucleus for bubble formation, so when you drop in the teabag, WHOOOSH it all boils at once.

Gasoline never, ever goes in a microwave, not even to see what happens.

I hope your enjoying the 80s!

I read the manual. Otherwise I would have never gotten the thing to work. But thank you very much for the warnings, particularly the ones about metal and plastic. I um....may have melted a plastic container but I was watching the microwave, so I was able to stop it before anything drastic happened. It is a little malformed though.

They're certainly interesting times.

I didn't know if there was anything I could do from here.

I talked to The Chief but since neither of us know the new network, we weren't certain there was something either of us could have done about it in time.

No, you couldn't. But I'm just a hop away. They were still on the tarmac, and there might have been a way in...
Nevermind, it's resolved now, if such a word can be applied to a situation of twenty dead.

Sometimes I'm ashamed you have to see what my world has become.

A Pyrrhic victory. It feels like when I lost some of the escapees in Manchuria.

For all the things this world still has going for it, despite all of the problems, I'm sorry to hear you say that.
