i'm back in SG and nothing feels better :D unfortunately i'm up at an insanely early hour because i still suffer the effects of jet lag so i thought i'd update on vegas and nyc since all i have been doing lately is proclaim about all the bittersweetness going on in life.
so after exams ended on thursday, 3rd july, we boarded a plane to las vegas. a plane we almost missed because of some immigration cock up. thank god we didn't. i really love the glitz and glamour of las vegas, except the weather was hot like an oven.
so even though we reached the hotel at 12+am, nobody sleeps in LV anyway so we decided to head out to explore. this is the venetian's artificial daylight. it's funny how illusions can make us alter our perspective. like how awake we felt when we were there. and how sleepy we felt when we left back into the darkness of the night.
the next day, we went to some factory outlet to shop. where of course, i bought my perfect, beautiful white dress.
this is a scandalous shot of the guys on my hotel bedHAHAHAHA. look at the way alex gazes deeply into kyle's eyes.
in the evening, we got all dolled up for dinner at the monte carlo. and after that, we explored the various hotels on the las vegas strip.
at night, kyle and i went to get champagne and red wine for all of us to drink in the room. that's a picture of the guys when they're high HA HA HA.
i can't remember what happened the next day except that we were exploring around again. and this was taken at the bus stop while waiting for a bus to go back to sahara to collect our baggages.
at las vegas airport while waiting for tiff to enquire about her lost camera (which is my fault, i conveninently misplaced it). i think these shots are very cute.
so the flight to nyc was fricking uncomfortable and i ended up sleeping in many awkward positions. but i was delighted to find that our staten island apartment was beautifully victorian, intricate and cosy.
DAY 1
honestly, i didn't know what was going on and i shan't mention why. but we went to the world financial centre, city hall, ground 0 and empire state building.
DAY 2
also not many pictures because we took a 1 hour bus ride to woodsbury for shopping hahaha. and after that, we went camwhoring around madame tussauds (but i haven't gotten the pics yet)
DAY 3
we woke up horrendously late so we only majorly covered the statue of liberty. it's certainly no fun queuing in the hot sun, just to take a ferry (which gives you sea-sick) to liberty island. but i suppose it all pays for the beautiful scenery such as manhatten skyline and statue of liberty.
oh, and we sat on the grass to nua for the longest time. it was fun, the perfect ultimate vacation where what really mattered was that you relaxed.
and finally, we went to see the famous bull. HAHAHA and we couldn't help noticing its golden balls!
DAY 4
we went to central park zoo in the morning. i'm no big animal fan but i really like the ducks! this is what i said when i saw the ducks: omg i want to eat ya fan!
before we went to the museum, we dabao-ed some food and sat by the roadside like poor people.
we split up for the afternoon for the museums. kyle and i went to guggenheim (which i didn't bother about pics because i'm not a big visual arts girl) and MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY. the latter was completely awesome because i've dreamt of going there all my life. pity we only had 2 hours to comb everything.
also, we went to central park, which much to my disappointment was slightly worse than botanical gardens. but we still took pictures anyway. i love seeing lush, long-stretched green patches of grass and romantic little gardens.
this was at some random shop and i thought it was damn funny HAHAHAHA.
DAY 5
the morning was spent at united nations. the tour was like a social studies lesson zomg. but i felt extremely important anyway, visiting all the spots where nations had their meetings.
and this was the best part of the day.
we went to sit THE BEAST, a speedboat which goes around manhatten. and for some reason, i was super high, grabbing every oppurtunity to stand up and yell "i'm the king of the world".
oh, the man on the boat was very entertaining, playing music that got us high and randomly spraying water at us. poor xinyu and i kena-ed while the guys were laughing their ass off! HAHA
and at night, we went to watch phantom of the opera. we had really good seats and the show was awesome. nothing beats a good musical with good props and beautiful voices. we also took a picture of the night scene at times square.
AND, the best thing about coming back to sg was that the EAGLES came to pick me up.
1) zhiling and eeling sported different but cool hairstyles.
2) bryan and rafiq still looked as good and manly as ever (HAHAHA).
3) i can't believe keith ponned his exam just to come and fetch me.
4) i missed yingli so damn much.
5) it was pleasant to hear alex, the mad woman's laughter again.
also, eeling bought me a garland of vanda miss joaquim and made me walk around the airport wearing that HAHAHAHA. and i didn't feel embarrassed at all because it was singapore pride. but, pictures later. they're in zhiling's cool panasonic camera. by the way, i can't wait for hall senior's camp. and i will be off to HSS camp tomorrow.
all in all, i throughly enjoyed my USA trip. i'd give anything back for it actually, except the part about missing local food, my bolster, my friends and family members. and being a ugly hobbit compared to the tall, well-dressed women in united states.
alright, it's 9.45am and i need to be at yoga class in half an hour. i really need it to get troubles off my mind.
P.S: also, i would very much like to visit the tarot card reader at fisherman's wharf who accurately predicted my life in the near future. right now, i really need him to give me some direction in life. it appears i cannot control my fate anymore :(
