Like, ultra uber-dumb. So every night about an hour after he goes to bed, he wakes up screaming. Out of instinct, more than anything else, I run to his crib, pick him up, and he starts screaming louder and gets worked up to the point of being inconsolable. Tonight, I could not go to him for a few minutes after he started crying. He settled back ( Read more... )

Gonna go with new mother as opposed to being dumb. There's a learning curve, you need to remember that.

Every baby is different. Personally, I feel that after a certain age you should always count to 10, or just pause for a moment, before you go to them. Babies have to be selfish to survive, and they also learn very quickly. It doesn't take long before they cry just for attention, not to fulfill a need.

However, that doesn't mean I think that him crying an hour after being put down is in some way normal and that obviously all babies do this, and all other parents know about it. :) Good for you for learning one of his little tricks!
