A rant, in response to Joann about WHY I HATE R&J.

The play. I actually think it may be one of the worst things ever unleashed on the world, and it is even more frustrating that it won't go away ( Read more... )

What is even WORSE is that everyone LOVES R&J.

Meh. I think it's because everyone KNOWS R&J more than anything else by Shakespeare. For better or for worse, it is a part of our culture now, moreso than most any other Shakespeare play. It's not my favorite, by far... I much prefer (also love stories) Much Ado About Nothing and A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Try Tristan and Isolde. It's (arguably) the model for R&J. Not quite as soap opera-y, either. But there is much tragedy, violence, cuckolding, and, of course, the brain altering love potion.

I hated that movie. I wanted my two hours back. Had such potential and just left you with a feeling of: oh, that's all?

The movie had NOTHING to do with the book. Really.

People please don't hit me for this comment-----

I really hate Twilight. I do. And I didn't know why I did because I refused to read it out of principal...but then I found out that it was about some Vampire who was stuck being a teenager and going to high school and falling in love or something with another teenager chick....but what really gets me is that he's ---OUT IN THE DAYTIME---isn't that like breaking the cardinal rule of being a Vampire????

But basically I dislike it because the guy who plays the Vampire guy in the movie wants to be the next doctor on DR. WHO. And now I is livid. He doesn't deserve that role...not yet. He has to pay his dues first. And grow up a little, and quit playing some schmucky unbelievable vampire. He's not Dr. material at all. Not now in my eyes at least.

No, that was sort of my point. Twilight is the worst thing unleashed on the modern world, R&J won that award for the 16th century.

He was the kid who played Cedric Diggory. That is all I know him from. I read an interview with him and he says how much he likes the books. GAG. GAG! Shows lack of intelligence. Definitely not Dr. material.
