God! That's terrifying. I know most pitbulls are perfectly nice animals, but any breed can be aggressive. I'm glad you and your pooch made it home safely.
I'm starting to think that maybe there's something to what they say about pitbulls - maybe they have a stronger prey drive than other dogs? Because we've been charged by dogs before, and usually one good shout makes the dog sit back on its haunches and perk its ears up. I've never had dogs start circling me before. The pitbulls' body language and reactions were something I hadn't experienced before - much more aggressive than I'm used to, and harder to interrupt.
Strong dogs need strong owners, I think. I hope the owners of these dogs took a lesson from what happened and will be securing their yard better from now on.
