My daughter wants to get published...

She found a magazine that specializes in publishing children's work, and drafted a letter. Then she asked me to read it.

I howled at this! My youngest daughter did exactly the same, at about the same age. Only difference was that the story had a selection of drawings that would accompany it. She was so into unicorns. They were so cute and she was so sure she would be published in the magazine. She even did the same with her name, _______ with an I not a Y.

It must be the age, ever hopeful and oh, so wise.

I think I'll recommend she remove the instructions on how to spell her name, but the rest is definitely going as is. I love twelve, too - it's a terrific age. Very forthright!

Absolutely, the letter is a gem and perfect. At 12 there is a certainty of wisdom that they possess and that continues right on up into the 20's. I think that somewhere after 25 they begin the slow process of questioning their incontestable beliefs of the world. I am not sure that boys get that far at any age. Could be wrong, there may be hope for them yet.

Hey, took one look at your icon and thought 'bet she likes the Sentinel'. Lovely - the smile on the wolf's face really makes it. He looks like he's snuggling right into the big cat.

I'll definitely post the results of my daughter's efforts, if she gets any response.
