Thursday was a nice celebration day! Motorcycle man invited me to head up to the Point Reyes area for some oyster grilling - who can say no to that? And so, it became an epic trip up to do so. I’d never grilled oysters before, so it was a cool experience for me! Not to mention lots of fun and laughter, we spent a lot of the way up passing riddles around since the application for the brain store included riddles to answer ( Me: *glee!* ) I do love me some riddles.
On the way back I missed a phone call from the first place I interviewed at - they wanted to offer me a job!
Them: I’d love it if you could work for me.
Me: …Uhm. I’m sorry, but I’ve already accepted another job. You missed me by a day.
Them: Really? Ah, man! Well, if you ever want to reapply…
So I suppose I have a nice backup if I end up needing to get a second job! So that’s certainly exciting. And nice.
Otherwise, Friday was orientation at my new job, and Saturday was my first shift where I started learning a lot of the basics and background tasks that have to be done. I’m slightly worried about learning all the recipes in a week, which is what my boss is hoping for, but I’ve gotten some decent encouragement! The other new hire and I have been told a couple times that we’re picking things up really quickly, and on top of that, I had one of the shift leads tell me that she wouldn’t have been able to tell that I’ve never worked in coffee.
So yes! Exciting and nice! I had Sunday and today (Monday) off and over the next week I’ve got 26 hours of work scheduled, with my first paycheck coming on Friday (Yay!)
Next task? Apartment searching. Whee?
