(First is a photo of my neighborhood. If you look at the background closely, you can see the Golden Gate Bridge!
The rest of the photos are explained down farther in the post! Also, I need a haircut.)
The sky was clear enough the other day that I could really see the stars - out in my neighborhood it’s so so overly bright as to keep them from showing up. Still nowhere near as bright as Nebraska, but hey, I’ll take what I can get!
Been keeping pretty busy, a few weeks ago I drove myself back out to Utah to pick up the contents of my life and being them to my new home - a long trip, but a good one! Quite the ride, though, too! The Sunday that I was driving through Nevada and Utah to get out there was the day before that big tornado in Oklahoma, when there were more big tornado-spawning storms and that was an interesting ride as Cora, my sister of this blog’s name, was driving up THROUGH these storms from Texas back home to Kansas. I’d talked to her on the phone for a bit and she’d mentioned the storms, though big thunderstorms are nothing new to drive trough back home, I didn’t think much about it until a little while later, in middle-of-nowhere Nevada, suddenly NPR is announcing that these storms have had tornadoes touch down including one in Wichita. Now, not only did I know that Cora was driving in that area, but my other sister lives in Wichita, a double whammy. So here I am, getting gas at a station in Nevada where there’s nothing for miles (so they can charge exorbitant prices - more expensive than San Francisco!) and calling both of my sisters to make sure that neither of them were eaten by a tornado. Thankfully, they weren’t.
Otherwise, I’m mostly just settling myself in, and finding it difficult to find things to write about as I settle into a routine.

I did try something new last week, though! It’s a fitness thing called MovNat! The website has a bunch of fancy words and whatnot about the why’s and the philosophy, but all I care about is the fact that it’s fun. It’s about ‘natural movement’, so being fit without the gym be crawling, running, jumping, climbing, balance, etc., done in the outdoors with proper technique. The session I went to was mostly balance, climbing, and crawling. I’m actually terrible at crawling properly, my technique is all screwy, but the climbing and balance are right up my alley and are a blast! It’s definitely the sort of thing I’m looking to do while I sock money away to start classes, and maybe even continue later if it’s fun! It’s also definitely the sort of thing that would fly in a California environment, but wouldn’t go over too well with the weather in Kansas, so why not enjoy it while I can?
I will add, however, that in Kansas we’re being sold a pack of lies about California, being led to believe that all of Cali has LA weather. I’m not entirely sure that weather even exists in San Francisco - it’s just the same day over and over again: 40’s in the morning, 60’s in the afternoon with about a five degree temperature difference and more or less fog. Is it summer? I don’t know! It’s not any different here!
