This first pic is of the huge gumtree in the neighbours backgarden, taken from our backgarden. It is the bane of the neighbours, as it's roots keep damaging the plumbing. One of the neighbours living next door to them had the roots actually come up through the plumbing and break the toilet bowl

Yes. People in other states think Tassie is cool and green, but in summer it isn't. This January was the driest ever recorded, with no rain worth mentioning. It all went in your direction.

two summer's ago our lawn looked like that! Hope you get some rain soon, trying to send you some, am quite tired of it here. (I shouldn't complain really - since we've had so much drought) but it just seems neverending, my lawn is soooo long right now. I need to find energy to mow it.

It is supposed to rain tomorrow, hope it does. It tried today, but the best it could manage was enough 'mizzle' to dampen the windscreen a little. It was a nice cool day though, which makes a pleasant change.
