This the view from the side window, taken whilst the glass had been removed, giving a clearer picture. As there is a fence close to the house on that side it is nice to look out at greenery.

we find supermarket stuff is expensive here too, when compared to where we lived in sydney. transport costs perhaps?

Transport costs possibly (Bass Strait has always been the most expensive stretch of water in Australia), but I suspect that distance is an excuse for increasing charges, as quite often supplying companies deliver the goods to the shop, no matter where it is.

I would have thought loo paper cheaper there, just from the fact of the wood chip industry etc down there. Still some brands cost way too much. I've found some no frills no name brands just as good and cheaper. Trouble is trying them out in first place to find one that suits.

Actually, as far as I know the wood chips go to Japan, so there is no reason why that would make loo paper cheaper here. I find Quilton from New Zealand is the best in the cheaper range, but not as soft as it used to be.
