More progress

On Thursday morning the carpet was laid in the bedroom, and I spent the rest of the day cleaning the room and then washing the curtains and cleaning the windows. I placed the 'eggshell' overlay on the mattress and made up the bed and fell into bed exhausted before 8pm. At present, with only the bed in there the room looks to be quite a reasonable

how lovely to be getting things done! :-) i can't wait to do the "decorating" at zara!!!

Yes, it is. The decorating is the fun bit.

We have been living here for almost 2 years so it is heartening to gradually make it comfortable. We are debating which project should be tackled next - my vote is for the kitchen, which doesn't look too bad but is unworkable, the fact that the floor is not level doesn't help. The one working element on the stove is on such a lean that if you try to cook fried eggs the oil sits on only one side of the pan. The oven will bake cakes, but is hopeless for cooking roasts. Les wants to replace the back hall (formerly the back verandah before being built on to). The floor is rotten and dangerous. Ideally we will do both of these this year, time and finances permitting.

After 2 years most of our possessions are still packed in boxes, and it would be nice to unpack.
