We have been quite busy since we returned from Sydney, complicated by our birthdays which are 2 days apart. We celebrated Les' birthday last weekend, and after 2 days of celebrations were left feeling too tired to bother about mine, which we have slotted in for tomorrow. Last Sunday we went to Les' daughter's home for lunch and a family catch-up. ( Read more... )

great pictures! nancytoday April 19 2008, 22:44:25 UTC
I love this top photo! What a beautiful day. I had no idea Sydney was so pretty!

I love the little reflecting pool. I guess it's fall for you, right? But your leaves are still all green.

Do you get snow in the winter?

Happy Happy belated birthday! I'm sorry I've been so egocentric not to read your journal lately. I'm feeling much chagrined!

I'm glad you had fun in Sydney, though.

Sydney is very beautiful, as you will find when I post some more pics soon. It is autumn here, but in Sydney you don't get the same change of seasons, the leaves fall at the end of May/early June and then the trees immediately put out new growth. They don't get snow in Sydney, but we get it here, although only very rarely in Hobart. Where I lived before, at 300 metres on the foothills of Mt. Wellington we used to have snow falling every winter, but only very occasionally did it settle.

You have been very busy with your health problems, I hardly expected you to even be aware that I was observing another year older. Yes we had fun in Sydney, although it was terribly exhausting. I'm not in a hurry for a repeat.

Garden stuff nancytoday April 19 2008, 22:48:28 UTC
sounds like you have lots of helpers around...folks doing the roof, folks digging the trench, folks moving the bushes. You must be one very beloved woman!

I always find when something gets dug up in the yard, the weeds move into that broken ground and take forever to fix.

I hope your trench doesn't damage your nice plants for years to come!

These people are being paid for their efforts, including my brother, although perhaps he is giving us a special rate.

The trench cannot damage the plants, as there is no garden to speak of, but at least having the shrubs cleared will give me a starting point for the garden I want.

Not being invisible nancytoday April 19 2008, 22:50:05 UTC
I'm sure we're invisible unless we do something to change it. It's one of those gray hair things.

I'm sorry you've been falling. Nothing broken, I guess. I have taken to carrying along my walking stick sometimes, too.

I think it's safer that way. Darn aging. I guess I'm really not 21 on the outside anymore!

Yes we still feel young on the inside, but when things start to go wrong you have to realise that you are not young anymore. Carrying a stick is a safety issue, much better than falling. I don't look forward to a walking frame though, which I suppose will be the next step.
