I would never have been able to identify that tree, then. I am strictly a northern hemisphere girl although we do live with a lot of gum trees in Spain that were exported to there from Australia. :)
After making that post I've discovered that it is not a leatherwood, but I'm still inclined to think it might be a native of Tasmania. I'll find out eventually, I hope. I have to admit that I am more familiar with Northern Hemisphere plants than Australian ones, due to the fact that those are the plants that people cultivate in their gardens, although now that water is in short supply that attitude is changing.
I've missed your entries, and am so glad that you've been able to post. How wonderful that you have most of the work done and can finally enjoy the fruits of your labour and patience! Lily of the list :)
