Repairing the shed

Les has asked that Nick should continue work on recladding the shed and repairing it, so he will be buying more materials today (Saturday). It should be well under way before Les returns. It makes sense as we were going to have another larger shed built, and it will be cheaper and more effective to repair the one already there. When the repairs are ( Read more... )

That's quite a job! Are you recovering it with timber or aluminum?
It's quite large...you wanted a bigger one?
Outbuilding like that are always very useful.

We are recladding with roofing iron. The roof will be the same colour, but with 2 skylights. Les had been thinking of a shed 9 feet by 18 feet, so approx. the same area. Outdoor storage is always good to have, and when the rafters are strengthened and secured a lot that is currently on the floor can be stored in the roof. There are some items that can be sold or got rid of somehow, as the overflow was just dumped in there when we moved. My gardening stuff is in there, I was really cheesed off to find that someone (and I suspect the painters) had used my garden spade to mix cement, and hadn't cleaned off the residue. It was an antique 'lady's spade' so designed for someone of short stature, and was just right for me, and of course not replaceable ( ... )

good luck with the repairs, I discovered our shed leaks, had to chuck out a heep of stuff including a good single bed mattress (had it in plastic) but the mould got to it.
