Wild Clematis

Some of you may remember that I posted a pic of wild clematis gone to seed in late Autumn 2008. Here is a pic of the very insignificant flower which is now blooming in the front garden (but not for much longer - that particular garden bed is close to the top of the list for extreme makeover.

Interesting to see this in flower and the seedheads too. Never come across it before.

Possibly it is a cold climate plant, as I remember seeing it referred to in 'The Abbey Girls' books when I was a kid. Don't know if you read them, they would have been a bit out of date by then I would think.
