The blood tests Les had have shown that he has a severe deficiency of Vitamin D. This is good since it is treatable. He has to take 3 tablets of Vitamin D per day for the next 3 months at least. I googled the condition and found out that it is called Osteo Malacia, which in the elderly causes pain in the bones and muscular weakness, leading to ( Read more... )

I forgot that Eddy was living near you now. Enjoy!

I'm glad that Les has "just" a vitamin deficiency. That's a relief. At least the treatment is easy.

Did you get your router sorted?

Sadly I didn't manage to get to the concert, much to my disappointment. I did go into town later and browsed in the garden dept. of a large hardware store, which gave my soul the same kind of peace.

I now have Airport Express, which is probably what I should have bought the first time. I'm too tired to fiddle with it now, though, and will probably leave it till Sunday, as tomorrow is supposed to be fine and I have a stack of laundry to be done.

A vitamin D deficiency...did the doctor say anything about what could have caused it?
I have noticed a definite increase in my feel-goodness since I started taking a "probiotic" pill that contains stuff to make my digestion better. It's the only thing I've done differently in the past couple of weeks, so my best guess is that it's helping me to better absorb the vitamins I take.

I do hope you were able to attend the concert and enjoy it. What sort of music will it be?
:)

Les was a photographer and spent much of his time in the dark room. Reason 1. Also, because he has many skin cancers, and continues to get them, he doesn't expose his skin to the sun. Reason 2. Also, this winter has been so dark due to the constant rain that probably everyone in this state has Vit. D deficiency to some extent at present.

Unfortunately I didn't get to the concert, although I was looking forward to it. However, when I went to town later in the day I spent some time browsing in the garden dept. of a big hardware store. That gave my soul the same sort of peace that the concert would have provided. It was classical music, but I don't know what instrument Eddy plays. I will have to ask.

I'm glad Les' issue is just a vitamin deficiency. I just started taking Vit D myself - but mostly to help regulate my body clock for winter. It helps!

Beautiful sunset photo!

Oh, what a pity you didn't get to Eddy's concert!
Never mind.

Nurseries are very soothing to the soul, I think too.

It's a real buzz to find something you like at a price you can afford. I've been buying clothes 2nd hand for about 25 years.
