Ahhh, and the glove has now been tossed-- May the Best Man win. viola69 April 25 2004, 15:49:01 UTC
I realized with this section that you are alternating between Brian & Dan pretty much in the narrative and I just love how we get these differing view points of Justin through the 2 men who love him; each so different in how they love and the Justin they see. And wow- great section here as the divide becomes clearer between Dan's Justin and Brian's Justin- and Justin who is actually somewhere in between- and really both men are trying to get a handle on who it is Justin really is now ( ... )

Thanks as always for the thoughtful comments!

This is so true! I think Brian misinterprets Justin sometimes too--either seeing what he wants to see or seeing what Justin wants him to see.

And there is certainly an element of Brian projecting onto Justin also- as given how VASTLY different Justin responded to Brian's NYC-plan than Brian intended him to act. And while I don't think that was honestly Brian NOT knowing Justin so much as Brian getting so wrapped up in his fears and the solution he saw for handling those fears that he didn't let himself think about how Justin would actually respond- just focusing on how he *needed* Justin to play along with this 'plan'.

He was fucking there first.
That just kinda sums up everything between Brian & Justin doesn't it? No matter what...Brian was there first. As you so eloquently had Brian put it once,
As far as Justin is concerned, in the beginning was Me.
Same thing applies here, there and everywhere.

Pardon me while I disgorge an intestine.
I'm right there with ya hun. Dan's great for inducing nausea. *pets Brian*

he said with a pout, and let go of Justin's shirt only to quickly grab the back of Justin's head and forcefully bring their mouths together for a loud, juicy kiss.
*cheers* Yay Brian! That's the spirit, the sooner you start getting Dan out of the picture the better. And that was a very hot good-bye.

I love this fic!

I am so with violetjones I love this story ...

"Shut up," Dan said. "Look, it's your duty as my mid-life crisis' idealized object of romantic obsession to indulge these ridiculous notions of mine."
I laughed so hard - read it to my DH and he laughed to without even knowing the story. I Just like the language.

"For Deb love really is a verb, you know? Not just a feeling. It's something she does. She wanted to make sure I knew she was still doing it to me."
This is SO my family, and funny enough a bit of the way I am too ... Nothing like the Mack truck of Luv!

"I learned my lesson about counting on anyone to fucking support my ass! I'm never, never gonna be stuck with no place to go the next time someone decides they're fuckin' done with me!"

OUCH! Is that our thesis/theme? I can't wait to see Brian try to overcome that "tossed in the garbage" type emotional garbage, and also feel a bit of the remorse that he should feel for making Justin feel that way.

"That's how the big boys do it," he said softly, the coffee shop having grown markedly more quiet than it had been moments earlier. He slowly ambled out the door and didn't have to look back to know every eye in the place was locked on his ass as he went

Ah, there's my guy. ::pets Brian:: Love Justin's strength/vulnerability for Dan AND Brian. Brian must win though for Justin's sake as much as anything else. This is a different kind of HC - one that Brian DID cause this time. The story is calling strongly to me now. Must feedback.

I like the idea of Justin's dilema ultimately being between two men who are different - not one where he's choosing being one man who is all bad and one man who is all good.

It's much messier this way!

Thanks for the comments!

LOVE the newest chapter!! Never a disappointment!

Dan is too afraid of passion. He admits it to himself but not Justin. Too afraid to really let go and feel. Justin feels safe with Dan. No drama, but also no passion. :(

I can't picture Dan a Babylon, but hope we get a chapter of that, cause it sounds humorous as hell.

Justin should have punched Brian when he kissed him like that. No wait, Dan should have, or at least flipped out or something. One of my ex boyfriends kisses me like Brian kisses Justin, and my husband doesn't care? I would feel totally unloved!

I think Justin and Dan both see Brian's kiss as having nothing to do with desire (little do they know!) but just Brian being a brat. Justin figures it's not worth his time to make a fuss and Dan figures it's beneath his dignity to make one!

Thanks for the feedback!
