Well... more like he did it because he didn't want to feel guilty.
Brian cares now about Justin and he regrets how he handled it, but at the time, he just wanted to be free!
the more Brian and now Deb are in his face and ear, the more he may start to awaken his passion
Justin is starting to wake up. I think for a span there, he was so buffetted by trauma (Brian dumping him) and tragedy (his mother dying) that he grew numb. Time passing is allowing him to heal, but that means he needs to start feeling again, too!

I have to say sorry yet again, but I still like Dan. It will be sad at this point if Dan's inability to flaunt a relationship in public is the reason for the downfall of this relationship. Even in that area, I see Dan trying to make a concious effort to grow in a way he thinks Justin wants. That dynamic is a healthy show of compromise and communication. I guess I honestly see Dan as loving Justin and see him as willing to go the long haul with Justin

I see this as a rather superfluous personality characteristic. Justin is much deeper than that (well, my Justin is anyway!).
Dan is different from Brian, but I don't see those differences as representing good/bad or right/wrong. Different is just and only different.
What was wrong with Dan realizing that he gets a certain 'feeling' when Justin looks at him? That he wants more and more of Justin?
There's nothing wrong with it at all, but Dan feels out of his element--rationality and utter self-confidence are what allow him to be a very successful surgeon. He's used to both of those qualities driving his decisions, and with Justin they just aren't. He so used to being sure of himself that when he's not, he's thrown for a loop!
I just don't know if Dan has the ability to manipulate the way Brian does.Dan's the kind of man that even if he had the ability to manipulate, he would choose not to. It
