It was a cool October evening. I needed to run the heater in my little white ‘82 Chevette while driving home from a school reunion dinner about 9:30 at night. The sky was pitch black dark with no moon. I had just crossed the only lighted intersection on the back country road and was on the final couple miles to my house.

Freaky! I once had a somewhat similar experience, though not as harrowing. It was during the day. I accidentally cut off a truck, and he followed me, beeping his horn angrily, all the way to a Wal-mart parking lot. I pulled up near a bunch of people, put my Ford Ranger in park, and jumped out, where I ran up to an employee and told him to call 911 because the guy following me was having a bout of road rage and I was afraid he'd assault me. The guy was confronted but denied everything and drove off.

This, of course, was in the days before cell phones. Today, I'd call 911.

That was really scary too, especially when you consider it was in broad daylight. Good for you for running for help. Glad it turned out okay and yes, we all need our cell phones now, just in case!
