LJ Idol - Week 9 (Better Half)

Jan 08, 2010 09:50

I started reading at a pretty early age. My mum fully encouraged it, mainly because it kept me occupied in the long hours I spent at my grandmothers waiting for her or my dad’s shift to finish. It also kept me entertained on bus rides, stopped me getting underfoot in the kitchen whilst she cooked dinner and allowed her to feel better that I wasn’ ( Read more... )

Awww!!! The perfect man for you is so much better anyway. I'm pretty sure the Perfect Man(TM) would get boring after awhile.

I love this entry.
I also was a voracious reader as a child (I wish I had more time for it today) and I loved the same books/series as you mentioned in your entry. In October, I lived out one of my long held dreams when we visited Prince Edward Island and got to visit the Green Gables house. I walked through Balsam Hollow, the Haunted Wood, and then down Lover's Lane.
So many times, I'd imagined myself on Lover's Lane with my imaginary lover.. but that day in October, I walked arm in arm with my REAL love- pushing a double stroller with our kids inside :) Bliss!
So yes, I relate to everything you wrote, and I loved the way you wrote it :)

Aww...I have ALWAYS wanted to go to PEI. Was it wonderful? Did you take photos?:)

Magsscribbles: I really enjoyed this entry. I don't know that I was an early reader (learned about age 5 or 6) but I did/do read all the time!

I loved Anne of Green Gables and Pipi Longstocking and Narnia too! And I never really understood the whole Heathcliff/Cathy relationship either...glad it wasn't just me:)

And I LOVED Enid Blyton!!! Her books are so hard to find here though:( I could only find the "Five" and "Secret Seven" books but I loved them!

I am glad you sound so happy yet in a realistic kind of way. I like that you admit that you argue and that life isn't perfect but you're still happy together.

PEI was even nicer than we anticipated, and I had high expectations to start. We left the island fully prepared to schedule a return trip someday, hopefully for a full week.
We took lots of photos, some of which are on my journal if you want to see :)

I was an early reader too, and books became some of my best pals when I was a kid.
So glad you have a happy marriage! It's nice to read positive messages. P.
