America (The United States of): a federal constitutional republic comprising fifty states and a federal district. Represented by a stereotypically loud, obnoxious, blue-eyed blond, America is an egotistical jerk who doesn't know when to shut up, has an implacable urge to always be the center of attention, and eats too many hamburgers.
Austria (The Republic of): a landlocked country in Central Europe. Represented by an elegant but overbearing and pompus man. Germany was ordered by his boss to annex Austria in 1938, so they lived together in Germany's house for a while. Austria didn't really mind, and spent a lot of time bossing Germany around like a nagging, obnoxious wife. Known for his prodigious musical talent and inability to throw anything away, he once patched a pair of Germany's dirty underwear with his bare hands.
China is an entity extending over a large area in East Asia, which is seen variously as a nation and/or multinational. Represented by a youthful Asian man, China likes to use his status as the oldest of all the nations to get his way - though it's never worked once. Somewhat crotchety and self-absorbed, he says it's absolutely necessary for him to feel like he's at home wherever he goes, and subsequently has built thousands of Chinatowns in various locations around the planet, including a completely deserted island somewhere in the southern hemisphere.
England (The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland): a collection of islands on the north-western edge of the European continent. Represented by a retired pirate-turned-gentleman and resplendent with amazingly bushy eyebrows, England is known for his tea, his sarcasm, and his long-standing feud with France.
France (The French Republic): a unitary semi-presidential republic in Western Europe with several overseas territories and islands located on other continents and in the Indian, Pacific, and Atlantic oceans. Represented by an arrogant and prideful man with beautiful wavy blond hair and ever-present stubble, France is a great lover of wine, art, and sex, and has no qualms about sharing his love of these things with those around him regardless of the appropriateness of the situation.
Italy (The Italian Republic): a unitary parliamentary republic in south-central Europe. There are a Northern and Southern half, represented by a pair of cowardly brothers. Northern Italy (Sometimes called Feliciano) is a derpy, nice guy, the main character of the series (which is named after him), and Germany's BFF. Southern Italy (often called Romano) is the polar opposite of his brother. Basically, he's kind of a dick. For convenience, all references to "Italy" in the application refer to the Northern half, unless otherwise specified.
Japan: an island nation in East Asia. Represented by a serious and hard-working young man, Japan was one of Germany's allies during WWII, and still maintains a friendly relationship with him today.
Prussia: was a German kingdom and historic state originating out of the Duchy of Prussia and the Margraviate of Brandenburg. Represented by a pale-haired, red-eyed young man with a huge ego, Prussia raised Germany from a tiny chibi nation into the manly nation he is today, and considers himself Germany's big brother. Like a typical big brother, he often picks on Germany, while Germany just as frequently berates him for his irresponsible behavior.
Russia: officially known as both Russia and the Russian Federation, it is a country in northern Eurasia. Russia is represented by a very tall, pale-haired, vodka-guzzling young man whose secret dream is crush all the other nations of the world under his fist.
