I know it feels weird, but maybe it is better that you log IPs of anonymous posts. I didn't have IP logging for years. Yet, for several months last year, I only allowed friends to post...and now that I've changed it back, I have a blocked user list several hundred users long (just in case). It definitely feels like I lost some freedom there.
