Well said! Although my mother did most of the cooking, my father was the better cook - he commented that he first cooked Christmas Dinner when he was 17 (his mother died during his first term at Oxford and he just assumed responsibility for cooking while he was at home thereafter). I'm not as good but I cook the Christmas Dinner and for special occasions. My grandmother's specialty was roast beef with batter ("Yorkshire Pudding" for non-pedants). My great-grandmother's cake recipe still habitually receives plaudits. Sadly, at my age, nothing makes me salivate at the thought of it: Beef Wellington (which I did for my mother's 70th birthday party) comes closest.
Those are two completely separate and unrelated questions.
That was exactly what I thought when I saw that question! Lol my mom can't cook and my fave foods are not the drek I was forced to eat all the time as a child. :o
Yeah, good point. I didn't like my mom's cooking, although she could bake very well and she made awesome butter cookies. But those were not her specialties.
