It'd be easier to ask where he wasn't hurt. There are clawmarks everywhere. Jim's jacket is practically falling apart - blood oozes from the rips.
He zeroes in first on Katara's hair. It's not the most painful thing one can have cut off. But it was hers. One of the few things that she could still keep with her.
