From Akron OH, it looks like you can head straight west and then go north from New York, but the traffic may be worse.

Or maybe from Columbus, keep heading west to New Jersey and head that way.

But form that map, the distance that you're heading back down south from north isn't much further than the distance from DFW to the OK border. And if you turn the map sideways and look at it, it's not that big of a difference.

There are definately smaller roads you can take that go straight, but they prob have lower speed limits, lesser speeds, or maybe even traffic lights galore. For example, it's kinda like getting from TX stadium to 75 and Walnut Hill is a bitch because while northwest highway is the straightshot, it has a speed limit of 35 and LOTs of lights. The alternative is to take 12 up to 635 and over and back down 75, or go along 183 to 35 and through downtown and back up 75. :/ But you're going 15 miles at least out of your way, but I think the side routes are still faster.

Thats actually the only other option I have seen as well. Therre is a SMALL Hiway type thing that we could take Straight into Cumberland ME however not all of it is on this particular map and without knowing anyone up there that has lived there more than a WEEK we cant very much call and say HEY does this road actually go through like we ASSUME it does.. but the down and up part of the drive would add on an extra almost 2 hours with traffic and it being a 28 hour drive we really would like to cut out as much of it as possible

Turn on the hybrid mode of the google map of that area and actually see the satellite photos to see if there is a highway there.
