Ok. does anyone have advice for buying a (cheapish) used car? Do's /Don'ts. Believe it or not, its the first time car buying without mom and dad basically doing it for me. heh. :)

Get it from a dealer that friends/coworker/family have had good experiences with, do not buy it off the street :)

Preferrably something that was on like a 2 year old lease and still has warranty :D

Hope that helps, I've bought a few lemons before I learned my lesson

1) Get a remorse period. 2)During said period get it checked out by an agency that checks cars. 3) Get a carfax as well. This will prevent you from throwing more good money after bad.

Remorse Period: 3-5 days to change your mind with no penalty or a small penalty. Carfax: People who can search record histories on a car and report problems with it. http://www.carfax.com/

Heck no. Sold that before vet school. :) A month after I sold it (privately to my mom's hairdresser), her husband was in a car accident with it. The car was totalled, but he walked away without a scratch.
