People in Arkham

Below are a list of Non-player Characters (NPCs) that live and operate in and around Arkham, MA.

Professor Elias Watney
Elias Watney is a Professor of Philology in Miskatonic University's Department of Rhetoric. He is known for his expertise in Classical and Semitic languages, historical prosody, and linguistic culture in the ancient world. Unbeknown to most, his work in translation of ancient texts has brought him to knowledge of things not to be named, cultish works of the ancients, and the more recent unearthing of unknowable threats. Having proved himself to be trustworthy in these matters, he (along with Dr. Henry Armitage and Professor Taylor Aldrich) is now one of a small handful of Miskatonic University faculty who share in the careful keeping of secrets too horrifying to disclose. Having had a lifetime of experience mastering secrets of his own, he is surprisingly well-suited to the task.

Professor Taylor Aldrich
Taylor Aldrich works as a professor of Archaeology within Mistaktonic University’s Antiquities Department. He specialises in burial rites and artefacts. His fieldwork on archaeological digs has taken him across the globe to sites in Persia, Egypt and Ireland. Through the course of his work, Taylor has come to obtain a certain degree of knowledge about the occult and, furthermore, about darker and greater evils still which remain indescribable. His interest over the years has grown in this area and he has, with a small group of others including Dr. Henry Armitage and Professor Elias Watney, worked to ensure that knowledge of these unspeakable truths are not made public knowledge.

Dr. Henry Armitage
Armitage has been the head of M.U.'s library since 1906. He is well very well respected for his integrity and his intelligence both inside the town and beyond it, though he spends most of his time in the library. There are those who say that Armitage has recently learned of matters outside the school which have spurred him to take on a new caution with regard to the library's holdings, particularly its Special Collections. Regardless, access to the facility's rare books is at his personal discretion.

Mrs. Diane Loring
Mrs. Loring is M.U.'s reference librarian. She is responsible for much of the day-to-day running of the library and is a veritable font of knowledge not just about the library's holdings but about the town of Arkham and the surrounding areas.

Napoleon
Napoleon is the Neapolitan Mastiff who guards the library steps late at night when most everyone else has gone to sleep. He is a massive dog, and despite his somewhat droopy appearance can move with surprising speed when he wants. At night, he is left on a chain outside the library's doors, but a long enough chain that his reach is not very restricted. During the day his hobbies include sleeping, getting scratched behind the ear, and trying to eat your lunch. Napoleon is nowhere near so friendly during his work hours.

Lucas Tetlow, Caretaker and Watchman
The Tetlow family had been Jeremiah Orne's hereditary servants during his lifetime and he made special provisions for them in his will. It is for this reason, generations later, that the Tetlows still look after the Exhibit Museum and other University grounds. The Tetlow family have always raised dogs, and Lucas keeps a small kennel of them out behind the Museum. He lives in a small apartment that is provided for him on the University grounds.

Rhodney
Lucas's favorite of the dogs he's raised. He often takes Rhodney with him on rounds and considers him an excellent judge of character. Rhodney, as is often remarked by many, is an exceptionally smart dog.

Mrs. Rosanna Nesimi
Mrs. Nesimi is Dixon House's housekeeper, and she takes her work fairly seriously. She's a no-nonsense kind of woman who has come highly recommended by Taylor, however she is not always the friendliest of people and she is especially wary of those odd Outlander-types...

Dr. Macon Foster
A local pracitioner who is an acquaintance of Elias, but aside from this very little is known about him. He does, however, seem willing to help in dire situations if a medical doctor is required.
