Jared did awesome in this scene! Overdo? In this scene? No friggin' way! He did it pitch perfect! It was Jared's time to shine! I think they're both amazing! It's like from the start when I began watching the show, I always loved their eyes. They're so beautiful and expressive!
I thought Jared was awesome! He hasn't overdone a scene in a long time. I don't think I've really thought that about him since back in season two. He is just getting better and better. It may be that he's just learning.. or it could be that he just knows his character so well.. or it could be how close he and Jensen are... that emotional scenes between them feel more real. Who knows.. all I know is he has been awesome!
Both boys were incredible but Jared stole it for me, he is on acting terms with Jensen now and is just getting better. And the sheer emotions from both , both J,s should be congratulated and boy arent we lucky to have these two.
Both J's totally nailed this scene. I flinched when Dean struck Sam--twice!--and bit my lip when he talked about "how far off the reservation you've strayed." I wonder why he used the word "reservation"? Why the Indian ref?
Worst of all was when Dean told Sam he'd hunt him if he didn't know him. Why does having a special power make a man huntable? I know Dean was scared, and fearful of what Castiel told him, but he made Sam turn off completely. "I'm done with everything," is what Sam said.
What does that mean, and what consequences could ensue as a result?

When someone goes "off the reservation" it means that thy have done something way outside their normal boundries. Or when someone like a spy or assassin does something unauthorized or goes rogue. It comes from the analogy of a member of a tribe leaving an Indian reservation. And the idea of having to go off the reservation in order to do something that is not permitted within the bounds of the reservation.
Why does having a special power make a man huntable?I don't think it is so much "special powers" that would make Sam huntable.. it's that those powers came from a demon. And to hunters, demon = evil. So his powers would most likely be considered evil by other hunters

When the phrase was first used (by Sam in Malleus Maleficarum), a few people pointed out the fact it is - or at least was - a common enough term in the Marines. Makes sense, then, that Sam and Dean would've picked it up from John, particularly if it's perhaps not so common in the forces now (after a couple of decades of attempts at PC guidelines coming down from on high *grin*), that the boys might have some Vietnam-era Marine expressions in their shared idiom. I love how the writers manage to keep John's influence in there, even after the man's been dead for more than half the show's run now. :)
