I forgot all about this. Was going to post it a while ago. I thought they pretty much had about half of it wrong. But there are a lot of years in the decade known as "the 90's". Plus it was a while ago, I can't remember what happened. But here it is. The MTV Top 10 rock songs of the 90's ( Read more... )

Just... ugh. No way. Wrong! (Blink shouldn't even fall under the category of rock - how they got in the top 10 is, just as I said, wrong. As for Korn and Limp Bizkit? 'Nuff said)

I probably would have left Blink 182, No Doubt and Weezer out of the list.

Probably would have had Pearl Jam coming in at 3rd, and switch Nirvana and Guns 'n' Roses.

Oh, I agree, I agree - I don't think that's an accurate picture of 90's rock at all, but those were just the obvious choices that struck me as being inappropriate. Whilst I acknowledge that a fair portion of the generation grew up idolising Nirvana, I personally don't see the appeal and have never formed an attachment of sorts. Weezer and I never made friends either. Alive or Better Man may have been better choices for Pearl Jam, but I've no idea when they were actually released. And what happened to Metallica? Bleeding Me, Enter Sandman or Nothing Else Matters are far superior tracks to 80% of those (but once again, I'm not sure which were 80's and which were 90's). Wonderwall and November Rain are about the only two I actually agree with! But that's the thing about music taste, it's such a personal matter that no list is going to capture the tastes of everyone listening to the genre.
