Okay, so rainbow_connec has been on me to post my icons, which I haven't done in AGES, mainly because I think my graphics and icon prowess is, umm, sub-par to say the least, but between her and my Arthur Kyo... well, yeah...
Anyway, icons they're 99% Merlin (Merlin, Arthur, random pieces of armour and the like) with a couple Colin ones thrown

You shouldn't be terrified :) The 3rd icon of the preview, the 1st of the 2nd line and the 1st of the penultimate line are my favourites.
Reasons : You worked on the lights/contrasts, the colours and the crop. From my point of view, original crops are the 1st step for great icons. Concerning the lights, contrasts and colours, my only advice is: don't be afraid to try all the buttons of your software and see what it does! You'll get effects you hadn't thought of!
Don't be afraid of posting more icons! :D

Those are 3 of my favourites. I really love how that 3rd on the teaser line came out, it just makes me smile, lol.

Good advice, I'm always trying to try out new things, not always succeeding and sometimes succeeding when I real don't want to, lol.

The icons are lovely, you did a great job! (One small nag -- it took me about 4 tries to read the whole text on the fanfic writing ones since the text kept going away before I could make out more than a word or two at a time; maybe you could slow that one down a bit?)
