That if Mary moves to Haxby with that awful Sir Richard, she would no longer be at Downton. He may not allow her to visit Downton, except for short trips or emergencies. So we can say that Mary would be more or less out of the picture of "Downton Abbey."

Which leaves Matthew. If Robert's alive and he feels to heartbroken to stay at Downton, he'll ( Read more... )

Awwww, you have to stop with the worst case scenarios!!! You know the answer to both those questions is no. ;p

OK, if you don't believe anything I say, listen to a girl on my Friends list. She bought a book about writing, and in it she said it's very important when you choose character names for a potential romance, that they sound good together.

NOTHING sounds better than Matthew and Mary. Both period names, both two syllables, both starting with the same letter. It rolls off the tongue for a reason. ;)

Have faith!!! :) They're not Catherine and Heathcliff! (Matthew is in a cemetery in the trailer, yes, but I'm fairly certain he's not there to dig up any bodies ;)

Aww thanks for your positive thoughts! I DO need it. I worry so much about these two and their not getting together that I have to go think of the worst scenario just to feel better. Heathcliff and Cathy were NOT happy when apart and that oddly enough made me glad. I don't want to see suffering, but I also don't like fake contentment. Which Matthew would have had with Lavinia.

I want so much to believe in the dance. But I've read enough books with strong but tragic heroines to fear the worst for Mary. I almost wish JF didn't love her so much. I wish he would let her go.
