Don't worry, it isn't just corporate America...it's happening here in Canada too. I saw a Santa Clause when I was out shopping with Greg's mom...and we both had to do a double take...and then I was sad that none of the Halloween/Thanksgiving stuff was out...that stuff is out at the same time here...Thanksgiving in next weekend! I don't know what I am doing yet...If I am going home for that, or if I am staying here and dogsitting...have to figure that one out...and also if Greg is staying here or going up to the cottage with his mom. I love Thanksgiving and Halloween.
It drives me crazy too. I can understand getting a jump on the shopping and things but to reduce the other holidays that come before it really irritates me. Especially since I don't really celebrate Christmas. Its not only because I am pagan either. The holiday has lost all of its appeal to me. Its too commercialized, kids only worry about what they are getting and not what they could be giving. The meaning of Christmas is lost to almost everyone which makes me very sad. There is always too much pressure to buy gifts and spend a bunch of money that you don't have, only to be completely stressed out about it throughout the holiday and into the next fews months. Just not worth it to me. I can't remember the last time that I actually went on a big shopping trip for Christmas or Yule for that matter. Money's been tight and buying one more gift is not a priority. I do hope you enjoy your holiday though and get to spend a little of it with your girls. *hugs&kisses*
