Ha, that's far easier with our Volkswagen (Golf 4). The manual simply says "consult a VW garage". To change a light bulb, i.e.

I've seen them doing it, so I know to better follow the manual.

Actually I really believe that just like planned obsolescence, planned maintenance nightmares are part of the companies bigger strategy. Keeping their garages alife by making maintenance and repairs for the average person as complicated as possible, so they rather bring it to the dealer for this.
