RIP Chairman Humph + My Depressing Playlist

Apr 26, 2008 21:06

I am very sad to hear that Humphrey Lyttelton has died. It was only recently that I went to Leeds with lorcas_novena to see him on the I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue tour, and although he was frail, he still played the trumpet at the end to a packed auditorium of cheering fans.

I understand your interest in this - sad and soulful music is a release all its own. Some of mine are on your list, so I'll omit those, but here's what comes to mind otherwise:

Empty - Ray LaMontagne
Cripple and the Starfish - Antony and the Johnsons
Shake the Disease - Depeche Mode
All I Can Remember - Easyworld
'Til the Day - Easyworld
Grace [album] - Jeff Buckley
Dream Brother (live version on Mystery White Boy) - Jeff Buckley
Forget Her - Jeff Buckley (it was hard to just choose three by Jeff. I am completely obsessed)
Only Skin - Joanna Newsom (this song chills me to the bone)
Small Black Flowers That Grow in the Sky - Manic Street Preachers
This Weather - Patrick Wolf
The Stars - Patrick Wolf
Nude - Radiohead
Half a Person - The Smiths
The Promise - When in Rome

Take care dear,
Craig

Radiohead - The Bends and OK Computer, Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral or Pretty Hate Machine, Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon and Comfortably Numb, Manic Street Preachers, before Richey's disappearance - The Holy Bible.... So many more, I mainly like depressing music! I can't think of it all of the top of my head though ;)

You have a good depressing playlist, I think it's really important to have music that just makes you helps you get it all out...kind of like drawing the poison out of a wound.

Anyway, my depressing playlist includes:

Play Dead & Cyanide Sun - HIM
The Holy Bible (album), Tennessee; 4Ever Delayed; Bored Out Of My Mind; La Tristesse Durera; Small Black Flowers That Grow In The Sky; Close My Eyes; My Little Empire - Manic Street Preachers
Orion & Fade To Black - Metallica
Ghost Love Score - Nightwish
Teenage Angst; 36 Degrees, Without You I'm Nothing; Special Needs - Placebo
Adore (album); Try, Try, Try; To Forgive; 1979; This Time; Here Is No Why; Disarm - Smashing Pumpkins
How Soon Is Now; There Is A Light That Never Goes Out - The Smiths
Stay Together - Suede
Warning Sign; The Scientist; Square One; Talk - Coldplay ( ... )
