In continuing preparation for the Great and Somewhat Cataclysmic Move Across the Country, I am cataloging all of my books and DVDs. The DVDs are done, they are fit quite nicely into an excel spreadsheet...er...a GoogleDocs spreadsheet

If you have a Mac I've heard good things about Delicious Library.

You could, if you were interested, use LibraryThing online and download the excel file to have it offline. Surely, not as pretty, but really workable.

My god, if you find anything interesting and cheap for the cataloging, let me know. I know *most* of what's in my collection, but not all.
