There's a few borrowed tools around him that he's been working hard to fix it, and just in time since there's a soft tapping of rain against the new glass.]It never rains this damn much in LA--this is just like how I imagine Seattle, but with less emo bands and more ninjas ( Read more... )

If you have not bothered with a sense of morality before, why now?

What can we do to help? Telling them information harms or kills them. We cannot get ourselves home. It appears to be out of our hands.

Believe me I ask myself that all the time. My last several moral quandaries were unhelpful. I tried playing the hero once and I just got guns pointed at me. I'm thinking being an official "fence sitter" is a good goal to shoot for.

Information about themselves is harmful. So don't tell them that! There's more to a person than just facts and figures, Super thief Lady! There's another version of me right? No memories, so no culture, no context to how be grew up and became the handsome fellow that he is. Why not slip him some salvaged history books to give him some context?

I loved Star Wars as kid. In fact watching C3PO and R2D2 is what made me get into computers and technology in the first place! ...Well that and dissecting my mom's toaster. So maybe if I give my double a copy of the original trilogy (none of the prequel crap) something will click in his little blank mind!

...I mean that's just an example I don't actually have anything to give him...but there's more that people could do besides whine about it. If they wanted.

I agree. It is certainly safer. Fewer come for you if you are not actively working against them or for those they dislike.

How do you know what is harmful and what will bring up dangerous memories? If they are central to your childhood, then they may be harmful and triggering.

Of course. There is always more that can be done than complain. Bt few will actually act.

Right. Every war needs a neutral zone.

I'm not sure I even understand how this memory loss works. How does 'knowing too much' kill you? Is there a subliminal trigger code? There has to be a way to work around it.

..Not that I care really.

They should look at it this way, maybe that side has an idea of how this universe colliding thing works. Or maybe since this world keeps reappearing, there's a natural property of the place that could help us. The lack of inquiry in this place is mind boggling.

There's a difference between emo bands and ninjas?

Reply

[video] mytechendsworld June 16 2010, 01:03:43 UTC
Sure one of them are a bunch of heartless, souless, evil, society destroying killing machines in black and the other ones are assassins from Japan.

Oh, that's right. The ninjas here wear whatever colors make them the biggest targets.

Oh yes that makes perfect sense in bizaro world.

The only ninja I've actually met has a fixation on my cow and has a weird "Phantom of the Opera" look going on, only with spandex.

I stopped trying to make sense of what the Animus do a long time ago. And maybe they've just run out of ideas for what to put us through next, so they're repeating stuff.

So young, so jaded! That's my Toph.

That's just lacking an imagination. Why repeat when you know what the outcome's gonna be more or less.

Someone's gotta be, especially with spastic people like you running around.

[It's a compliment...sort of? A Toph compliment at least? She's kind of mean to the people she likes.]

I don't think they try and make sense. Maybe they're repeating stuff to throw us off...or maybe they're just bored.

Again...I stopped caring enough to figure it out.

Spastic!! I'm not spastic I'm dramatic!

[Ah Topher...]

Wait no. I'm realistic.

[Nice save]

The other major question I have is IF they were here and then they disappeared, why can THEY leave and the rest of us can't? Entire world, not melding into ours...kinda suspicious right? Ya think someone would look into i.

In my experience, morality is overrated. The second you start looking out for someone other then yourself, things start getting complicated.

Believe me, I'm with you there. Problem is every time I try to stay out of it, trouble just finds me anyways.

Like this double thing! Here's me trying to mind my own business and suddenly I find out that there's another me, without memories! I don't technically have to do anything, but at the same time if that was me--technically it is me--I'd be pretty pissed at the not!me for not sharing info!

...wow I just confused myself.

Well ask yourself this, will doing that benefit you in anyway? If not don't bother.

That's how I've lived my life and,so far, things have worked out just fine.

I like the way you think. Very simple.

You've never run into trouble at all? I find that hard to believe.

I used to make the big bucks man. I had a dream job, dream life...and now I'm here. Didn't do anything to cause it but we're all trapped her anyhow.

Maybe the Animus get bored. I doubt not everyone was here for the first time this happened, and therefore they can eat their popcorn and watch a whole new show.

Harrison Ford was all those people?

I guess? You guys know better than me, I just find it very strange that a bunch of all powerful spirits could get bored. Isn't there an infinite list of things they could do instead of taunting people with memory loss clones?

Harrison Ford is a genius! He was Han Solo, Indiana Jones, Rick Deckard, Jack Ryan, Dr. Richard David Kimble, President James Marshal in Air Force One--I could go on friend!

Well, see, right there, that's where I think everyone's giving the Animus too much credit. If they were really all powerful and they wanted us out of here, then they'd be able to send us back home, wouldn't they?

Maybe they're just hiding behind this cloak of omnipotence so they have a sense of power over us.

So Harrison Ford is an identity thief. And this is good because.....?

Well people disappear all the time? Besides that's where I'm a bit confused. I thought the scientists brought everyone here with their experiment of fail. Not sure where the ghosties come in.

For shits and giggles. I'm with you there.

[What? Have a BLANK stare for a moment before he flails]

He's an ACTOR! You know? A performer, artist, thespian, player! Those are his roles from his movies!

...You don't know what movies are do you?

I am SO ALONE.
