I can't say that I'm entirely surprised, but I did hope that there would have been more warning. Something along the lines of "We're going to ..." instead of "Guess what we did?"
Yes! We have a new dog.
He hasn't had a name chosen for him yet, my mother seems to wnt the name to be after some sort of bird since we have a Finch. So far, the top contender seems to be "Puffin". He's only 10 pounds and 7 weeks old. He's also a Border Collie mix. Not only does he look like one, but he's already been trying to herd Finch.
Finch is not exactly happy about this and I don't blame him at all. Neither am I. But neither of us were consulted before hand. If we had been, I would have made sure to point out that this is a BORDER COLLIE! The term "high-energy" doesn't quite cover what that means in terms of this breed. We are talking about a MANIC level of energy. And this is the kind of dog that desperately NEEDS training and exercise to even be managable. I've already suggested frisbee, flyball and agility training as ways to focus and burn the unrelenting energy that he will no doubt have. I can already see myself getting used to telling my mother, "He's your dog. You walk him!"
