songs & poems

Hello all, I was wondering if you had any favourite songs or poems that had a mythical aspect to them? I always love finding these little treasures & seeing how artists incorporate them in their work. One song that springs to mind is PJ Harvey's Sheela-Na-Gig.

The sheelanagig stuff is interesting - I have never come across such images before - and how strange they should feature on Churches. There has to be something pagan about them, unless it is supposed to act like a very early gargoyle, still influenced by Celtic paganism perhaps.

Thanks for posting the poem :) I especially like verses 1 & 3.

That sounds like a very plausible explanation for them, it would certainly make sense and be in context with what sort of things other people did in other lands around the same time. They're just such raw images

*sorry, I pressed the return key!*

...They're just such raw images, they must have some pagan connection that was just too strong to do away with them when the churches came around. Hmm, so mysterious!
