Belated comment here, but this is really fascinating stuff!
I have never come across bee-mythology before, unusual and enlightening. And yay for mead, lovely stuff!
I have had Greece-nostalgia lately, from when I visited 2 years ago. It is probably due to my sun-loving, wanderlust-inflicted self - and that being the last place I went to abroad. But still, the place is magical and I must return.
Apparently Crete is full of all sorts of ancient goddess-based temples/sites. There must be some hidden treasures...I recall when I visited Greece there was a huge site being excavated - which was in its early, but still magnificent stages. It was yet to become a popular tourist attraction, so it was a privilidge to wander round such a site, with the many crickets, prior to it being raided by coach loads of people!
Anyway, yes, tangent...
Thanks for posting this :) I have started to tune into reading/studying more lately, and musing over mythology and the like, so I hope to post here more frequently.
