For no reason that I can discern, my scanner and my computer have suddenly decided to refuse to acknowledge each others' existance. For that reason, it is highly likely that my submission this round will be at least a little bit late, and to my Chosen I apologise deeply. If this ends up stretching out too long, I'll start drawing you 'interest'

Actually, honestly, what gets the best results when they do this is, once you've determined it isn't a loose cable or a missing driver, leaving both the hell alone. At some point, randomly, I will be sitting here, or possibly somewhere else in the room, and my scanner will go "Click! Bzzzz-zzzz..." as though it had been told to stretch or something, and then all of a sudden the computer will go, "Oh yeah! I DO have WIA installed! I forgot!" and it will suddenly be usable again, for whatever strange reason it *stopped* being usable.
