'Neverwhere' moment

I was in Westminster today.  Had an excellent meeting, albeit slightly sad because it's the last time that particular group of people will work together that way.  Said all my goodbyes and 'nice working with you' and headed home, hoping that I could get home, because the rail service on the West coast line has been a little subject to flooding just ( Read more... )

Temple and Arch! Part of me wishes you'd looked...and the rest of me is kind of glad you didn't because you know how dangerous a Void would be in London Below.

Well, if I had looked, I'd have been very, very careful not to fall in ...

But you never know what you might let out opening a door like that - and while I might be tempted to go looking for the floating market, and I'm always looking for the Earl's carriage when I'm travelling by tube, I don't think I'd want to live in London Below. an interesting place to visit, though ... :-)

OH, thank you for posting that - it's just so evocative.

The whole London Underground is like that, I think - full of empty tunnels and stations that aren't used anymore (or ARE they?) and rushing winds and weird signs and a disembodied voice that says "MIND the GAP".

Now I want to go visit London again...*g*

You never know quite what you're going to see while travelling on the Tube. A couple of visits ago I looked up and found a child-sized bumble-bee, complete with bobbling annetenna, getting on the train ...

There was all that, and also three off-duty workmen sitting comfortably having a fag break in the one place they knew they wouldn't be interrupted.
