Testing my birthday present

Dec 04, 2010 15:50

My DB treated me to a new close up lens for my camera - so I've been taking pictures of things really, really close ...

The cats aren't that impressed  (as you can probably see,) but the results have been pretty good so far.

Mutuality. Great tiger.

I made the icon, which is my default.

It's one of my kitties, Grand Premier Inazuma Heslet Quillan aka Quill aka The Villain.

what breed is he/she?

Mine isn't made by me, I think I found it browsing. Had it since the beginning.

Awww I want to hug the kitties!

The first two, but especially the very first one, have expressions like "Get that thing outta my face or I'll get you for it!" lol

They're never quite sure what I'm up to with this strange contraption held to my face. On the other hand having the new lens means I have a chance of getting semi-sensible pictures of them, as their first reponse to facing a camera lens is to come up and sniff at it!

Nice to be able to get close-up shots! A good first attempt, I would say. I envisage a lot of future embroidery design materials .

Hope you had a good birthday - did you get to the K&S show or was it too snowy?

Are you likely to be headed this way in the near future? %That is, before Xmas!!

It was a choice between the macro or a wide angle - and I decided there would be many more things I wanted to capture close up than there would be panoramically.

We did get to the show - it was the last time I was able to get the car out of the drive. It was a pretty good one too, although I managed to come back without having spent much. (The quiet whisper of 'you have some of that in the attic' in the back of my head helped!)

Doubt I will be travelling much more before Xmas - I have a couple of trips to London booked weather permitting (I had to cancel both Manchester and London last week.) but not a lot else. Although if I do have to end up in Warks for interviews I might need to drop by for a visit in order to reassert my sanity ...
