It's amazing how much tech has been inspired or guided by fiction. You see a bit of tech in a movie or book and it eventually turns up in the real world- maybe because people really want it.
With the exception of flying cars and good text i/o.
Even the robots are starting to turn up .
I have a theory that it derives from Openheimer's "physicists have known sin" speech- that those who create must have a moral or ethic center and think about how to create good things- not just cool or interesting or efficient, but "good"- useful, usable things that will be used for good purposes....
Hubby and I were talking about it the other day when we saw it reported on the 4:30am Weather Channel. I'm hoping we'll get Transporter Technology before I die. At the rate tech is going... it COULD happen!
