I'm totally digging the latest Weird Al stuff. You've got a " at the end of the "don't download this song" link that needs to be taken off to get the page to load. If I'm computer-literate enough to figure it out, probably everyone is, but you might fix it if the urge tickles you.
I like his statement that the law is kinda moot on this issue. It's about personal/corporate politics. He's got his own morals. I don't know if Atlantic Records is just stupid, because a Weird Al parody is the best advertising anybody could ask for, or if they're brilliant, because an NPR article on the controversy is good publicity, too, and will reach a whole different demographic. Since it's being circulated anyway, they've got all the bases covered. And in a little while, when they concede permission, either Al won't use the song on an album anyway, or the original will be dead and will enjoy a resurgence off the coattails of the parody release.

So how likely are we to get Dfest moved to another date? The hugo awards news is really cool too - I've seen/read everything listed there and they all deserve many kudos.
