I meant to comment on this ages ago, but I never did! You're a good storyteller. I jumped right into this tale of yours, and the length of the story didn't bother me one bit!
Buttercup squealed and lunged forward, ducking her head to her chest and started bucking and rearing wildly. At that first lunge I lost my balance, and when she jerked her head down it snatched the reins from my hands. I tried to stay on, latching on to the horn of my saddle. (Thank God that I declined my boss' english saddle; western saddles FTW.)
I don't ride horses, but I remember the difference between English and Western saddles from a series called Thoroughbred that I used to read when I was kid, so I was pleased to understand exactly what you meant here. Haha! Small victories. Hurray, me, for being a ridiculously well-read child. XD
She had been broken in two years ago...around the same time that people stopped riding her. This line freaks me out. I can't believe your boss let you ride this horse! I mean, the fact that they STOPPED TRAINING HER right

All I know is that this entire real life story slid as easily into my brain as silk through my fingers, so yes, it was delightfully written. Just keep at it! With writing, repetition breeds perfection.
I remember that series! I think I only read a couple of them though. I was more into the Heartland and Phantom Stallion series. I think I also read the Saddle Club. I read A LOT as a kid. XD
Oh geez, do you remember Wonder? When she died, I was inconsolable for the entire day. I couldn't believe the book had betrayed me so thoroughly. XD I might have read a Saddle Club book or two, but I'm not sure. Oh, I was a HUGE Animorphs fan for the longest time. I own the entire series, specials included. The question now is if I'll ever read them, or if I'll be preserving them for others later on down the road. Time will tell!
Hee, I'm glad the imagery amused you. ^.^ I really did go running in the morning with Desperado. I was sore but it was still fun. :D Amazingly, I had no bruises. O.O I was surprised about that, but kind of glad too. XD
