all due apologies to the REAL 'Old 97s'

Am I really about to volunteer myself in such a way that will amount to de facto obligation to actually attend the dreaded high school reunion?

has it really been that long? ugh...

somebody, anybody, straighten me out!

Depends... what is it they're asking you to do? If you're supposed to actually help plan I'd advise you to run far far away. :)

I think I'm planning to be there. Zach is iffy on the whole concept I believe but since I missed mine and regretted it terribly, I'm going to try to get him to go.

I offered to do a website, as opposed to 'them' paying some service what i believe to be a ridiculous monthly fee. That's the extent of it to this point, but that would still require regular communication with the actual planners. And i do have fairly extensive event planning resources ( ... )

I'm not going unless Matt Scott goes.

I think Nikki was part of the planning for '95 and then didn't go to the reunion itself. But, I think she also quit helping with the planning because it was weird and creepy and annoying.

You are a brave man if you can do it. Just know that if you plan it and Emmet Swimming isn't playing at it I'm going to be very sad.

there's a very thin line between bravery and stupidity, my friend.

how involved was Brady with the '96 shindig? in digging up these old bones, i think it'd be funny if cortney and i ended up helping deborah after both running against her for what amounts to this very obligation of planning the reunion... as usual, you were smart to get out when you did...

i wonder what it would take to get ES to such an event? maybe i could find them a gig in HR for the same weekend... ha!

Brady actually was fairly involved in his, as it turned out. I'm not sure what all he did, but I think he helped book the hall, and maybe collected the RSVPs and checks too. I can put you in touch with him if you'd like to get his perspective.

As much as I'd love to see Emmet play, I don't think our class would be a great audience. So let's not torture them. We could torture Everything though. I have no problem with that.

yeah, our class would probably be like, "Omigod, that band that did the "Hooch" song? I loved that..." And I just threw up in my mouth a little bit, though I must confess, I have an Everything live album recorded a few years before they 'got big' and it had some tunes i really liked. Strangely (ha), none of those songs made the label' studio album or the radio...

emmet's playing this ridiculously large Shamrock Fest in DC the week before St. Patty's, I might try to go to that...

I vote for going.
It could always turn out to be good material for your creative life.
