I like this. The writing is beautiful. I hadn't thought of the gods as wanting to have more than they already do; I suppose Zeus does that sort of thing often enough, but it's different from what you describe here. This is an image that will stay with me.
Thank you! I suppose that's the best part of writing, that someone will remember what you wrote. Yes, we were talking about Dionysus in my Greek class and this jumped out and bit me. Apollo believes in enjoying himself, but I think he'd never be able to have Dionysus because they are so different. He can't deal with darkness, even the darkness of a god.
I enjoyed this-- your descriptive language is lovely.

Wow, this was really quite lovely - the balance of reason and irrationality, especially. (: I've never really thought of Apollo all that much (truth be told, he's sort of bored me - just another nymph chaser, really) but this has definitely made me warm to him. Thank you for that.
Thank you! I was sitting in Greek class discussing Dionysus and Apollo and it kind of jumped out at me. Glad you enjoyed it, and I'm very pleased it made you warm to Apollo!
It's not usually an easy task to change my mind about a god, but yes, this fic did - I'm quite thrilled to have read it. (:
Aww, poor Apollo! He's not really got much distinct mythology of his own, has he? He's mostly just Artemis' brother and, well, a "nymphomaniac", shall we say. Even him as god of light/sunlight heavily overlaps with Helios' role as god of sun. x) Looks like poor ol' Apollo got the short end of the stick however you look at it; while Dionysus gets to laugh and drink and just party hard, really.
