Fangirl Appreciation: Morgana

I recently started watching The Adventures of Merlin (way behind on TV, as always). I'm finding it enjoyable enough; rather akin to the Hercules & Xena school of fantasy adventure based so loosely on established folklore and mythology as to only be recognizable if you squint at it sideways really hard. The Mists of Avalon it is not, but it's ( Read more... )

Egads, the pretty is astounding. Merlin is on my list of shows to watch (and I've probably got half of them recorded for Mums) but that list grows far more than it ever shrinks.

It helps that these days I'm pretty much limited to whatever is on Nextflix instant watch, and that is an ever-narrowing pool. I've been meaning to check this one out for ages anyway because Anthony Head is playing Uther Pendragon, but I avoided it based on a few really unkind reviews I've come across. Personally I think it's fine; a bit silly at times, but considering how similar the tone is to all those Sam Raimi shows I grew up on, that doesn't really bother me.

She's definitely lovely. I want to steal all her costumes, especially to belly dance in...

I see they had ye olde sergers in the middle ages!

I love the blue one with the hood and the pale ivory with the irises!

LOL, I think you could probably create a pretty effective drinking game by spotting all the anachronisms in this show. I try to keep it firmly filed away in the 'fantasy' category so I can ignore all the historical inaccuracies, which works well enough until they go and do something silly like make Geoffrey of Monmouth a recurring character...

Oh gosh I loved Morgana's wardrobe too. Her dresses were so pretty and colorful in the first season before she turned evil and the show got all dark. The purple and blue one was my favorite also; if I could find that shimmery blue chiffon somewhere, I would totally make one just like it!
